Our History

Here are Our Milestones

  • First Seed of ICGM

    1978
In 1978, the first seed of the ministries of ICGM was sown in Thoppur, a tiny village in central Tamil Nadu with a vision to reach the unreached people groups in India with the message of the gospel and to plant churches among them.

Dr. Gnaniah founded and served as the General Secretary from 1978 to 1987. After which
Prof P.T. Rajan took over the leadership from 1987 to 1993.

  • Society Act

    1979
In 1979, ICGM was registered under the Society Act. From the very day of its inception, ICGM has been structured as an Interdenominational Mission. We will continue to be true to this calling in the decades to come.
  • Church Planting

    1981
Through the relentless faithfulness of God and His mercy, ICGM has established several bodies of churches in 7 different states in India. The very first church was built in the year 1981 and the mission has continued to grow steadily over the years.
  • Office Built in Madurai

    1988

Though ICGM office had moved from place to place, a site for the office was bought in Palkalai Nagar of Madurai, the village city of Tamil Nadu. The office was built in that place during Prof. P.T.Rajan tenure.

Prof. P.T. Rajan was instrumental in the mission's growth. The church buildings and the Registered Office at Madurai were constructed and the mission grew to a middle-sized organization with 50 staff. He approved the ministry to the Gonds and sent Leslie as a missionary to this people group.

  • Siphorah Program

    1990
The Siphorah Program was initiated in 1990 to aid the motherless children from birth and offer them healthy and happy homes to grow up in, More than 50 such tribal children have been given new lives through Christ’s love.
